Referee Acheampong To Officiate At African Games

Ghanaian assistant referee Kwasi Brobbey Acheampong has been selected to officiate at the upcoming 12th edition of the African Games scheduled for Rabat, Morocco from August 16–30.

The FIFA referee who was part of six assistant referees to receive their FIFA badge in January this year in Sogakope after a five-day integrity course Organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in Collaboration with Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and FIFA will leave the shores of Ghana on Wednesday to join 11 other assistant referees for the two weeks tournament.

This would be his first major tournament since taking to refereeing in the year 2006, walking in the footsteps of his late father referee Francis Brobbey who died in January this year.

The experienced Accra based referee would be joined on the lines by the Moroccan quartet of Zakaria Brinsi, Hamza Naciri, Yahya Nouali and Hicham Ait Abbou alongside Montel Moussounda (Gabon), Celestine Efosa Igudia (Nigeria), Dalmacio Efuman Fama Obono (Equatorial Guinea), Ibrahim Bah (Sierra Leone), Meck Zulu (Zambia), Rachid Waiss Bouraleh (Djibouti) and Edgar Rumeck (Zimbabwe).

While the center referees would be Babacar Sarr (Mauritania), Komlanvi Aklassou (Togo), Quadri Adebimpe (Nigeria), Juste Kokolo (Congo) André Kolissala (Central Africa), Adil Zourak (Morocco), Jalal Jayed (Morocco), Jerry Yekeh (Liberia), Eugine Nkosinathi Mdluli (South Africa), Omar Abdulkadir Artan (Somalia), Ring Nyier Akech Malong (South Sudan) and Mohamed Adel Elsaid Hussein (Egypt).

The tournament would see host Morocco being joined by Burkina Faso, Nigeria and South Africa in group A while defending champions Senegal will have Burundi, Mali and Ghana to battle with for a place in the semi-finals.
