Ghana Rugby Union President Herbert Mensah Briefs NSA Boss On Upcoming Pre-WC Qualifiers

President of the Ghana National Rugby Union, Mr. Herbert Mensah has paid an official visit to the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi to brief him on their upcoming pre-world qualifiers.

The meeting mainly centred on the Association’s upcoming 7s world cup qualifiers and outlined its preparations so far and the way forward.

Professor Twumasi mentioned that he was happy with the successes and progress made by Ghana Rugby since Mr Mensah took over as the President, adding that the sport, which was initially unknown in the country, is fast rising and making an impact both in Africa and globally.

Mr Herbert Mensah was in the company of some top hierarchy of Ghana Rugby Football Union as well as some players.

This is the first meeting bwteen both the National Sports Authority and the GRFU since their impressive outing in Uganda in July this year where they defied all odds to beat Algeria in the qualifiers for the World Rugby World Cup to be hosted by France in 2023.

The Eagles came from trailing the Les Lionceaux of Algeria at halftime by 3-20 to win by 22-20 in their second and last match of the tournament being hosted at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Uganda.

Ghana suffered a 53-12 defeat at the hands of hosts Uganda in the first match, an action that saw them eliminated from the qualifiers after both Uganda and Algeria booked their place to the next stage of the qulaifiers.
