A 74th-minute goal by captain Yaw Yeboah was enough for Ghana Black Meteors to pick all three points against the Fennec Foxes of Algeria in the final U-23 AFCON qualifier played in Setif on Tuesday.

The game was keenly contested by both countries with the hosts looking more relaxed, perhaps they knew that even a goalless drawn result will take them through to the tournament in Egypt in November this year.

Both teams drew 1-1 in the first leg played at the Accra sports stadium last Friday, but Tanko’s men gave a very good account of themselves in tonight’s game fighting for every ball.

Despite a hotly contested first half, it failed to produce any goals with both sides coming close to breaking the deadlock on many occasions.

Ghana pushed for the much needed away goal that would calm the nerves of the team and the millions of Ghanaians monitoring back home.

Their persistence paid off when captain Yaw Yeboah who missed a penalty in the first leg in Accra scored a great goal that stunned the few home fans who managed to make their way to the stadium.

Ghana now joins hosts Egypt, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Mali for the tournament that starts on the 8th to 22 of November 2019.
