All gold-winning Ghanaian athletes at the 2019 African Games in Morocco will be rewarded with $3,000, Director of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi has disclosed.
According to him, the bonus rewards of $3000, $2000 and $1000 will be presented to athletes who win respective gold, silver or bronze medals in the single or individual sports events.
Athletes who compete in the team sports event would be due $2000, $1500 and $1000 respectively if they win gold, silver or bronze medals.
“The budget of approximately $1.28m approved for Ghana’s 139-member contingent of made up of 91 athletes, 29 coaches, and 19 Management members makes provision for athletes who win medals in individual and team events”, he added.
Team Ghana will participate in 14 disciplines which include, athletics, badminton, volleyball, boxing, cycling, fencing, football, judo, karate, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting.
The 2019 African Games will be held from August 19-31 in the Moroccan city of Rabat.
