Some talented young badminton players across the country will be given the opportunity to be part of the various national teams when the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) commences its scouting programme on Independence Day.
The search which will be on a regional basis will see BAG hunt for talents to fill the Under-13, 15, 17 and 19 teams for the regional teams.
The one day event is expected to bring together over 500 players across the regions with the aim of poaching the best athletes for the regions as they participate in the Individual and Mixed Sports events.
According to organisers the purpose of the qualifiers is for the regions to build a formidable team ahead of the 2020 National Badminton Junior Championship slated for April 23-25 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This national championship will be used as the selection process for best players to be recruited into the junior national teams.
The qualifiers happen to be the BAG’s foremost event of the year, and it hopes to achieve its intended purpose of popularising the sport.
Meanwhile, the association has begun its annual registration exercise and called on corporate institutions, communities and school clubs to register and become affiliate members of the association and enjoy immense benefits before the registration process ends on March 30, 2020.
